I don't use a fan, however, my Pi stands vertically.
There aren't many of us using PiStorm to be fair, and every setup seems to be different, meaning there is no defacto setup.

That be first problem, Really I need to rule out any thermal type problems.

But of course would render the idea of removing the sockets little bit pointless then.. But I would much rather limit external factors such as overheating particulars I would plan on running it all day for testing stuff out.

Let me do some quick testing with another pi4 without heatsink

15 minutes of running BW's Elite FrontBench - configured as a 68020
Temperature is fluctuating between 43 and 46C

Using HDMI for et4000 emulation, then temperature increases to 54C

Of course running for longer will likely creep up, but these temperatures are a long way off thermal maximums

Thanks, I guess just a couple a small stick on things will probably do then. I can keep an eye on temperatures when it's running and worry about it another time.

I didnt realise the later Pis needed at least passive cooling.

Are we starting to enter the era of having to engineer RPi cooling solutions and proper ventilation in our Atari cases to deter heat related issues/lockups?

PiStorm already works on WiFi.
There is a way to mount a disk image for the emulator and files can be copied back and forth (between the Pi file system and Atari live) - it is experimental of course.

That sounds cool. Not sure how that works overall. I think cosmosex could mount a gem drive which is mapped to a pc folder. That was useful as saved using floppies and SD cards etc.

Thanks. I wonder if the pi can be flipped upside down and placed over the other 68k socket. Probably makes no odds really.

So @go0se replied and he said he only makes them with 74LVC16373ADGG and not heard of the 374s working better.

So I'm in a bit of a non starter here then it seems if nobody is making them with 374s
