ok just tried in PAL mode and same issue? I'm wondering if it's my IndivisionAGA-MKII as it's switching into and out of NTSC screen modes during the demo?

so this demo runs fine timing wise also on a PiStorm32 and the chip ram speeds are slower than my CS-MKIII so no idea why my TF1260 is off with this great demo???

I dont see the issue on any of my 1260s.f1lupo wrote: Tue Mar 26, 2024 1:20 am so this demo runs fine timing wise also on a PiStorm32 and the chip ram speeds are slower than my CS-MKIII so no idea why my TF1260 is off with this great demo???
The only thing i can think of is perhaps more interrupts are generated on the 1260 and the demo responds to those without checking. Either way its not something i'm going to spend any time on. Its a very minor thing being one small section of a demo.
EDIT: I note that i am running party version and it works fine. The glass smash sound is exactly in time with the hammer falling.

Thanks for testing & I agree it's a minor thing ...I'll try the party version of this demo to see if it makes a difference

Re: timing off running Starstruck Final release demo (2018-04-11)
If I’m interpreting the issue being described correctly, I’ve observed that the hammer is in sync with the glass smash sound effect, but they don’t sync with the music. One would expect each ‘smash’ to sync with the music at eight beat intervals, but they don’t.
However, I think this is normal behaviour; the tempo of the animation and sound effects isn’t quite the same as that of the music. Whether it should have been in sync by design, it certainly wasn’t released that way. A bug? An oversight? Perhaps it wasn’t considered as something that should be in sync. Maybe a looming deadline meant that TBL couldn’t get it to sync, even though they had planned to.
If the two of elements were of a significantly different tempo, it probably wouldn’t matter so much. It would be clear that they shouldn’t be in sync. The fact that they are fairly close probably makes it more jarring, because it just seems
‘off’.
Here’s the part in question in the 2006 version, published on the AssemblyTV YouTube channel:
And here’s the same part in the 2018 final, on the RetroDemoScene channel:
Please correct me if I’m missing some other issue.

The smash sound and the background music is the same wav file. If it plays like it plays, it is intended.idc wrote: Wed Apr 03, 2024 11:13 pmIf I’m interpreting the issue being described correctly, I’ve observed that the hammer is in sync with the glass smash sound effect, but they don’t sync with the music. Exactly as I thought, thank you for confirming. They should not be in sync, but they're close enough for it to be a minor annoyance that they don't.mikro wrote: Thu Apr 04, 2024 8:09 amThe smash sound and the background music is the same wav file. @ idc
Thanks for testing for me the hammer should coincide with the smash sound for each name. I'm not concerned with music here.

We think the smash is part of the music.f1lupo wrote: Mon Apr 08, 2024 11:50 pm @ idc

Yes, I can confirm that the glass smash and hammer movements are in sync for me.
Tested with two systems: TF1260 with a rev. 5 on a 1B board, TF1260 with a rev. 6 on a 1D.4 board. Both boards have timing fixes.
