The PiStorm (Amiga A500 Rev B) sits in a 64 pin IC socket. If you have an ST, then the CPU will need removing to install a socket. No other mods are required. But of course you won't be able to sit the keyboard above it.
Someone posted pictures of a Stacy somewhere (don't remember if it was on this forum or discord). It looked like PiStorm could be fitted, but don't take my word for it.
The Pi4 has to sit higher because of the integrated Ethernet and USB ports. A PI GPIO header extender is readily available, but if you have height constraints, then I believe some people are willing to remove the Ethernet and USB connectors.

Right, my STacy has a socketed CPU. A Pak 68/3 accelerator board has been sitting in it for the last few years. :)

I did post pictures of my STacy a few messages/pages back in this thread.

So it will work with a GPIO header extender? That's good to know. For some reason I was thinking it wouldn't.

Thanks for the info. :)

Switching gears here a bit, since the PiSTorm has HDMI output, is there any reason
to have an RGB2HDMI mod or to consider doing one?

I'm sure the answer is obvious here but I wanted to make sure. Thanks.

Does the Pi4 GPIO header cable need to be male -> female?

I gather that the 2gig version of the Pi4 is okay.

Thanks...

Hi,

2 gig is Ok

But: pls do not mix „GPIO header extender“ with „GPIO header cable“!

For the pi4 you need the header extender, which is basically a stacking header male/female

A cable between PiStorm and Pi most probably will not work - although I have not seen if this got tested, I only read comments that this will be a bad idea…

Jeez - no, no, not a cable lol - one of these - https://thepihut.com/products/stacking- ... all-header
Yes 2GB is plenty, could even use a 1GB

No need at all, unless you want to see Native screen resolutions and don't have a monitor to output them to. PiStorm uses Pi HDMI for rendering of non-Atari resolutions. If using EMUtos, there is a software option to enable EMUtos booting to be output to the HDMI - 640x480 Monochrome

Yes if you want native screens. Going forward there can/will be a cheap shifter adapter -> MIPI using a $9 devkit. The development is being / has been done for 12-bit RGB for the Amiga by the PiStorm developer.

This adapter plugs into the PiStorm MIPI connector and allows for Native<->GFX card switching.

Wow, that's some pretty big/exciting news! Wonder what kind of time table we're looking at here?

Thanks. :)
