I did a hack to FrontBench to do all the screen composition in TT-RAM and blit it to ST-RAM at the end as an experiment. It was slower on the Falcon than just using the STRAM for composition, but I wonder if it might be quicker on an ST536 where the bus is slower again?

Could be close.

Great idea! I guess you set up the shifter as usual with its address in ST-RAM, but just change the place the rendering is done to TT-RAM, then do a MOVEM loop on the VBLANK?

Any chance of a bsdiff or xdelta binary patch pretty please? :D

Yep, basically. There are two screens allocated for the double buffering. Just declare one in TTRAM instead of both in STRAM and when previously it would switch between them, movem the whole kaboodle instead.

I think it was about 30% slower on my Falcon.

I’ll have a dig around. It was a throw away experiment so might not have it any more.

Good day,

I have an Atari Mega ST1 with TF536 ST EDITION and TOS162 / TOS206 ROM GERMAN.
I have Ultrasatan as boot medium.
Bus resistors upgrade was done on the board.
Unfortunately, the Atari does not boot from Ultrasatan RAM Test runs after short access and does not happen.

What could be the reason for this, do further fixes need to be made?
5V rail is ok.

Many Thanks

Have you done the DMA mods ?

Also you should use TOS206 from my site as I don't know all the bugs vanilla 206 may have.

Are you using the latest firmware ? Does it work without the ST536 installed ?

https://exxosforum.co.uk/atari/last/TF536/index.htm

I just tried ultrasatan on my H5 board and it booted up fine.

Yes, without the ST536, the Atari will boot from the Ultrasatan.
Latest firmware is installed. others before also tried without success.
can take other modules than at27c4096 as a ROM?
IDE boot still not working right?

IDE was fixed a while ago. I've used it a lot.ROM any should work as long as they 120ns or faster. Ive not tried slower.

Using my 206 build should be next step. It has a lot if fixes.
