Re: Future store updates planned (backend)

I have done some tweaks to the store script relating to allowable characters in the shipping address fields. I have noticed some odd things going on with people writing different versions of addresses in the checkout notes and actually in the address field which is just confusing things.

It came about because I was blocking things like slashes because they normally break code stuff, but oddly went through in the checkout notes which I never thought about anyway.. In any case everything relating is converted to html codes now.. So there should not be any screwyness..But most likely have broke something unknowingly...

Shout out in this thread if you end up with any errors trying to check out..

Just a forewarning that the webstore may be "temporarily" moving address soon.

The SHOP icon on the top of the forum should always point to the current web shop link. I am currently unsure if your shopping basket will get trashed during this change or not. So the store on exxoshost will basically be taken offline (will try and do a redirect to the new store anyway).

All this is because I need to transfer the store to the exxosforum server as part of the server move. As such the current exxoshost link will have to be disabled because I cannot run web store on two servers at the same time. But once the move is completed fully, the original exxoshost web store link will function again (hopefully).

I'm not sure when this change will happen, but very soon. It may be today or tomorrow kind of thing. I'm currently updating the stores emailing scripts trying to diagnose and fix the problems of people not getting the emails etc I know people were grumbling about me doing away with emails altogether. The new server seems to be currently working better email wise so will leave things alone for now.

The store is running on the new server (still not gone live yet). With help from @rubber_jonnie I think I've figured out how to stop hotmail losing / junking emails. It seems the DKIM stuff needed to be setup. I guess it makes sense that emails are verified better as to where they are coming from. Anyway, I've moved from my own php mailing scripts and used a more established package now. It took some work to intergrate the changes but all seems good now.

I'm going to try and add a USA state drop down box as USA people constantly miss it off, @derkom suggested a while back that USA people may expect a drop down box and not having one is resulting in them not even bothering to type it in

I also need to fix some issues with the postage calculation as royalfail decided to split up EU into 3 zones instead of just "EU". So I need to update some scripts to deal with that change as well

This work will easily keep me busy for the rest of the week.

The web store has had some "minor" scripting changes. It should all operate exactly as before.. But in case it appears like this or something then please let me know!
