Discontinued items 2024

Post by exxos »

Due to EOL chips viewtopic.php?f=114&t=6961 regrettably some items will have to be put out of production.

First up is the ST536.

At the time of typing there are 20 PCBs left in stock. Considering there was never any great interest in the project, and now with a lot of the items becoming harder to find now. I think it's just time to abandon the ST536 now. So the PCBs will be available until the stock is exhausted.

The TF536 will likely not be produced again. Again due to reasons above.

With the gerbers being released and them not selling much anymore, I don't think there is much need for me to stock these again. But thanks to everyone who purchased on, it really helped me out!

I have decided to discontinue the Falcon clock patch V2 / V3 series. I believe the V3 is currently being sold in the store despite a listing still saying V2. I think it will be less confusing for everyone to just simply have the V4 sold in the store. They will be available until the current stock is exhausted.

While the V2 has been installed in a great number of falcons with great success. The V4 was born to address more the FPU side of things. Which fixed @Steve's FPU issues , Which is a more recent discovery. The V4 also had a total overhaul on how it works and operates to address different issues and improve on other things.

The V3 offered different SDMA clock delays compared to the V2, which was to address the phantom bus accelerator issues where they needed a more specific delay. There has been great success in general in doing that. But as previously mentioned, it is still very hit and miss if the bus acceleration will work in particular falcons and with various hardware combinations in the mix, I could not guarantee success even with the V3 patch board. The timings may well need timing down to 1ns to function and may require much trial and error. Of course overclocking is a bit of a roulette anyway, and as such, I just don't want to get involved with bus accelerated machines due to the "hit and miss nature" of things working or not, which is outside of the scope of a clock patch being able to fix in a lot of cases.

I'm not officially supporting or insinuating they may or may not work with bus accelerated machines. If you want to try V2,V3,V4 then fine, but you are on your own if you do that. There are so few phantoms out there it is not realistically worth taking them into consideration IMHO anyway.

The clock patch boards do not have much to do with other accelerators like the CT60 etc. The V4 works fine with my CT60e and DFB1X. But its more the bus speeders which overclock the bus to 25Mhz or whatever which is where multiple problems can start.

So the bottom line is, I'm just going to discontinue the V2/V3 series and concentrate on the V4 series from now on. The V4 is of course twice the cost, but a lot more work went into its evolution. The V2/V3 will likely still be fine for majority of users anyway. To date I am only aware of @Steve's machine have "more than normal" stability issues which the V4 fixes. But there are likely more out there still yet undiscovered.

Can you check this, please? I have a V2 and would like to complete my 'collection', especially because I have one Phantom still to be installed so when trouble comes, it may come in handy to have multiple choices to try.

I asked my girlfriend to check and she says they all say 3.0 on the ones in stock.
