H5 A3 & B1 AMP UPDATE FOR X2 MODULE

Post by exxos »

Continuation from the previous thread.. https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... 602#p52861

You only need to do this mod if you plan to use the MIDI SYNTH X2 module. The amp board will correct the volume levels for the X2 and mix it correctly with the YM audio. The amp board will be added to future H5 revisions.

The 2 caps circled on the X2 board need removing and solder blobbing over. These caps create a lot of hiss in the audio and have to be removed.

NOTE: This "winamp board" fix should no longer be done.

Solder amp board on the GND header and solder the 2 bodge wires...

The other end goes to the H5 amp circuit. Remove the capacitor and solder the wire on the top pad as shown below.

AMP BOARD MOD - Should probably do this one first

Circled are 2 resistors which need to be "rotated" and resoldered in as shown below...

EDIT:

I guess the people who do the above mod last didn't read the install guide fully before starting  :chairsmack:

Just to double check: this amp board is only needed in the A3 boards, not the B1? Asking because of the post subject, and I thought it was also needed for the B1...

If, indeed, is needed for the B1, when it will be available in your store? Just to make one order/shipment with other products. :-)
