@Lamaman1971 great work. And you had a different LCD PCB to mod!
It is really handy to have a light to show access. A bit like CD ROM emulator on PS1, there is no access light and no clonky drive mechanism to hear!

yes, PFS3-aio is the best filesystem IMHO, I use nothing else :)

Has anyone tried the light hack on the led board that comes with the checkmate case?
I am going to try it in the next few weeks in any case but any advice from someone who has would be welcome.

I’ve done it with the Checkmate case. Didn’t bother with a resistor as the LED board comes with connectors for both Amiga (5V) and PC (3.3v).
No pics as I have to solder on some longer wires now that I have the CF card plugged into the tf1260 😀

Pics and info would be gratefully received. I did try this but couldn't make it work but then real world stuff has got in the way. Would like to try again at Xmas.

Pictures attached.
I am an idiot who soldered on the wires the wrong way around but electrons don’t see colour so swap it around when you do it for real. The worst that can happen is you observe the “D” in LED.

Quick correction - it should be wired like *this*, connecting LED active to 5VDC. If you connect to ground it’s not harmful and it “kind of” works on startup, probably because the level is floating until you start doing disk I/O, so didn’t realise my mistake until I booted up for real and the light stayed on.

I have done the PCMCIA led mod.
When i put any card in the pcmcia slot my led start flashing (dimmed). The HDD on the ehide port takes over the PCMCIA led and shows the HDD activity but it also shows the activity for my ethernet pcmcia card on the same LED.

Have anyone else done the PCMCIA led mod and got it working as it should be?

OK - my soldering is terrible and my attempts to solder wires to the CF adapter were not robust enough to survive, AND I wanted to front mount the CF adapter in my checkmate case. This involved using a 40cm ide cable on the EHIDE - whilst I haven't tested it I am told this is not likely to work or will cause problems.
So.... I got amigastore (Cheers guys) to knock me up one of their buffered IDE adapters but with a couple of extra pins added for pins 39 and 41 on the IDE. it looked like this:

They even tested it with a 40cm cable and confirmed it worked.

Now I could have just messed with the cables to the Checkmate LED board, but after my earlier messier attempts, and with life throwing a few curved balls my way I took the easy way out and got one of these:

I then ran a cable from the HD pin to pin 39 on the Buffered IDE adapter.
Now my Checkmate case has a front facing CF adapter, and the HD LED on the front lights up when accessing the EHIDE.

A few points to note:
its a slightly shallow victory because with the CF adapter now sticking out the front, the little LED on it is visible anyway......
Whilst the CF adapter seems wot work reliably on the buffered IDE it is slightly slower per Sysinfo - I was getiing say 4.7 mbs and now its 3.9. (all with no overclock).
