TF1260 on ACA500

Post by terriblefire »

Having a bout of insomnia and got shown a salty comment from Jens about the TF1260...

I cant resist this poke back TF1260s sold 300+, ACA1260s sold 0.. Maybe he should just try to build a USB card that doesnt fry itself..

Anyways i noticed that @E-Penguin had asked about it.. Well there are a couple of things i realized

1. TF1260 Ram is not Autoconfig. Its fixed at 0x08000000 range. This only works with A1200 3.1 ROMs.
- This was done because otherwise Mediator doesnt work. It never expects a CPU card to have 2 autoconfig devices.
2. Probably i have got a bug in CONFIG_OUT so that its always set to high. It really doesnt matter if you use the TF1260 for its intended purpose.

Unsure of what the specific fault with the ACA500 is but it might be some of the hacks added to the TF1260 to make the mediator work smoothly that caused it. It does resampling of DSACK in the ZII range because the fall times from Mediator are up to 15ns appart. i.e. it can look like a byte ack when its really a longword.

It's not really up to you to make the TF1260 work with the ACA500 - it's up to Jens to do that, since the ACA500 adding support for A1200 accelerators is a hack in itself.

I agree but then you see this nonsense...
Get a 68020 data book, read how a 68020 really handles the bus, implement that on the TF1260 side and it'll work with the ACA500plus. It's not that hard - if you know what you're doing, that is. I hear that the TF guy just stopped doing this because he got p*ssed off with the community, but who knows - he might have found out that making a stable accelerator is a little over his head?
TF1260 works with the A1200.. the most picky/crappy chipset i've ever seen...

Unfortunately it seems all Jens can do is read manuals. The 680x0 series of manuals (and honestly almost every manual you ever read) does not always match up with the real world. This is because manuals aren't written by the chip designers themselves but by technical writers.

Quite weird tactics to get support TF1260 for Aca500Plus...

He doesn't want that... He wants people to buy his severely overpriced card instead (you will be able to buy five TF1260s for the price of Jens' 1260).

Yes. Market for high end 060 cards must be massive... Warp1260 must sell in tens of thousands...

But your cat will come near the ACA1260 and it will fry from ESD...

I would be a complete dick about it and get it working, make a video of it working, upload it to youtube and then delete the firmware :)

Aca500 owners should have purchased TF536 cards. They are not TF customers and as such can GTFO.

TBH i dont blame Jens for not wanting to support it... I dont want to support that combo either. But he could just say that.

To be fair, Jens always defaults to it being the fault of anyone but him or his cards/build quality.
I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
