I recently purchased C-Lab Aura software. It's great, but there is no way to back up this 35 year old disk. Making a copy in fast copy doesn't work. Also copying the flux data and writing that back to a blank floppy doesn't work. How do I make a useable backup?
Oh and Happy New Year!

To clarify copying the flux data means using a greaseweazle to create an HFE doesn't work?

Re: Copy-Protected Disk (Once it dies, software gone)
It created a file named "mydisk.scp" after copying the flux data, which I wrote straight back to a blank floppy disk. It copied all the files perfectly but the copy protection was still present stopping the program from running.

Dang, that's a puzzler. I've use flux data copying with my greaseweazle to copy some pretty tough copy protected original game disks like Dungeon Master. So far it's always worked for me (not saying I've tested all scenarios).

Re: Copy-Protected Disk (Once it dies, software gone)
Just tried an .scp file of it that I found on-line. Wrote it back to a floppy and it's still copy-protected, so...

Ah so you didn’t create the flux data yourself from your own disk. Got it!

I did both. Did it with my own disk first. Then I tried the file from the internet in-case someone had sorted it. It means we have archived files that will never run because of the copy-protection.

I wonder if the .scp file from the Internet would run under an emulator...Cosmic Puppet wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 7:50 pm I did both. Did it with my own disk first. EDIT: The .stx from here https://www.atarimania.com/utility-atar ... 23517.html works under Hatari: EDIT2: And the .scp from there works under Steem:

Nice! I just tried another source from the net and it crashed in EmuTOS and Bombed in TOS 1.04czietz wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 8:03 pmI wonder if the .scp file from the Internet would run under an emulator...Cosmic Puppet wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 7:50 pm I did both. So it seems currently no way to back it up for original machines without it being cracked.
