DSTB1 released

Post by Badwolf »

DSTB1, my open source Atari ST booster comprising an interface board for a 16MHz 68000 and 8MB AltRAM has been released along with its supporting programs.

You may find gerbers, JEDEC and a rudimentary BOM here:-

https://github.com/dh219/DSTB/releases

The supporting software may be found here:-

https://github.com/dh219/DSTB-tools/releases

The supporting software is not required for EmuTOS users.

This is a very low-budget board intended to be capable of personal manufacture for approximately 30USD, although current chip shortages may make that nearer 40.

Here's a demonstration of assembly:-

And here is an example of its use (older video):-

This has been developed on a single machine -- an STE with an adapter board -- so I make no claims as to how it will work or fit within the case of any other machine, that is left as an exercise for the reader. Code contributions, especially to the firmware where there is room for improvement on blitter handling and possibly on SDRAM efficiency, are welcome.

DSTB1 is released under the GPLv2.

Looking good @Badwolf!

Some of the parts arrived from Mouser today, so next I need to see what is still missing & plan some time to start the build...

Really impressive!

For the poor of us that don't have Kicad installed, don't you happen to have simple schematics in PDF? Or is there any Kicad URL to convert online?

Hoping the last few shortages arrive tomorrow (I've even found two 16Mhz 68k DIP processors) so that I can try & build my example too.
