Okay, so I had another set (4 pack) of TOS v3.06 ROMs in an older Pak accelerator
board.

So I swapped them out for the ones I've been using in the Pak board in my STacy,
thinking that if it was a TOS version 50/60hz issue, maybe these would boot up
at 60hz.

No luck. In fact, they won't boot up at all in my current board. Not sure what's
up with that, although I did take them out of non-working board. Nothing else
to do for the moment but put the STacy's original TOS v3.06 ROMs back in (and
it still does boot up, just still at 50hz).

Back to the proverbial drawing board. :)

Being the glutton for punishment that I am, :) I removed the RGB2HDMI mod
and booted up my STacy with just the shifter chip in place.

The pallet problem is still there.

So I carefully went through all the CPX's in my CPX folder and disabled them
all, then slowly reactivated them, 1 by 1.

The only CPX that makes a difference is the COLORS.CPX itself. With it gone
(disabled), the pallet drops back to the standard black, white, green and red,
and all is normal. Reactivate it and the pallet goes all wonky.

I'm going to look for other versions of the COLOR.CPX and see if any of them
makes a difference. I honestly don't remember where I picked this particular
one up at.

Thanks.

I don't understand why you need COLOR.CPX at all (You say everything is fine with it disabled) From my point of view it looks like self-torture lol :)

AFAIK when you press 'save' on the Colour CPX, it modifies the CPX file itself (see my complaints passim), so when you load it again the pallete is restored.

Is the CPX set as read only at all?

It's available on the Falcon Language Disc called COLORVDI.CPX, I believe.

I'm pretty sure that's how it works too, so I don't think it could be set for read-only or you wouldn't be able to save it?

I will check though.

It's "movie day" at my sons' house (currently finishing the last season of "The Umbrella Academy", horribly large amounts
of food that's really bad for us, etc) but I'm going to go through my software and see how many different versions of the
color CPX I can find once I get back and... try.them.all.

Thanks.

Just a quick update...

Remember, my STacy is using a modified TOS v3.06 with the Pak accelerator board. So I
contacted Holger Zimmerman and he replied:

So he's going to compile a new version for me, with the settings
correct for here in the US (60hz) and send them to me. As soon
as I can get those burnt and installed, we'll see what happens. :)

Just wanted to update this message thread.

Holger Zimmerman sent the updated Pak/3 TOS ROMs and I programmed
the chips this evening. Short story, it worked! The RGB2HDMI Mod is now
booting up in 60hz mode. Over the years that I've owned my Pak/3 board
and been using it, I don't know how many times Holger has come through
with solutions and I can't thank him enough.

Here's a few pictures:

Finally, I ran the TIMER_B program again. I know, I know, it still looks wrong but it's not.
For whatever reason, my Samsung Galaxy phone shows the bars between the 3 color
ranges not as black. To the naked eye though, they are black. I even took a short video
of it to see if it would pick up the black then but it still didn't. It *is* black though...

Okay, so one more problem solved - getting closer to putting my STacy back together. :)
