RGB2HDMI Mod Pallet Help?

Post by Darklord »

Okay, this is for everyone who is using an RGB2HDMI mod in their ST computers.

When you set yours up, did you have to do anything with the pallet in the settings?

The reason I'm asking is, when I first set mine up on my STacy and started using it, I had really mixed up colors in the ST control panel (CPX). I had to adjust them and that fixed it but it's definitely not standard.

For example, I use internal Ultrasatan's on both my Mega STe and STacy. If I take the SD card from the STacy and boot it up in the Mega STe, the colors are then scrambled there if I don't return them to the original settings.

Same thing in reverse - if I take the SD card from the Mega STe and use it in the STacy, the colors are all scrambled again.

Really kind of puzzling. Thanks all.

I have RGB2HDMI in two STe's and one STm. Never had to change colour settings. All I can assume is the r.g.b. wires going into your RGB2HDMI are mixed up. But please don't ask me about it, I am not an expert, you might want to open up a Github issue on their project page with some photos.

Thanks, I did open up an inquiry. We'll see how it goes.

I bought the complete kit from RetroSeller in the UK. So the only 3 lines I had to connect were BLANK, VSYNC, and HSYNC.

The 2 boards have a ribbon wire in between, so no extra soldering.

This isn't fatal - I can use the color CPX to adjust the colors and keep my
sanity. :)

It's interesting though, if I then run NVDI, the colors are skewed around
again and I have to adjust them back.

So to temporarily compensate for this, I made 2 copies of the color CPX.

I set one adjusted for NVDI not running, and one adjusted for NDVID running.

It's dead easy to switch. Just go into setup in the control panel and activate
the CPX you want, deactivate the one you don't, then reload the CPX's.

It's a "work around" but it's functional. <shrugs>

Is there any chance (likely?) that the cable/ribbon is not fully connecting at
either end? Is it worth the effort to remove it, trim the ends and reinstall it?

This is the cable/ribbon wire I'm talking about:

Okay, grabbed that and ran it on my STacy. Here is what I got:

PS BTW, how do you quit out of that? I couldn't figure out any key combo
and ended up doing a manual (reset button) reset. :)

Thanks much.

Looks like there's no definition between black and blue?

Ah, gotcha. :)

I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to be seeing here. Steve mentions no definition between black and blue?

Thanks.

Both pictures mine and yours should be similar.
As Steven mentioned there is something wrong with blue - I can't see black color.
