On the internal hard drive for the mega ste I have got one of the lokie adapters on the ste to a asci adapter set up for 2 channels one for a scsid card and the other for using the old hd move it to the sd card. I also can plug my old dvd rom drive on the channel and it works to the cabling was a challenge. I may try and crip some ribbon cables for the job but I dont have a jig to hold them

Hi,
need some Information about my STE and using the FPU.

Got the GAL and a FPU 68882, remove the Jumper, STE works as before.
in Gembench 608B31 i get "I/O mapped FPU not supported" ... is that ok?

what can i do to see, this things are working?

Thank you for your time.. and please stay healthy.

@rene204 If you run up Sysinfo I think it it will show your 68882 in place.

As for Gembench I think that is correct, but I will try and check mine later on if I have time and let you know

I've confirmed that it shows in Sysinfo and as per exxos post, the FPU is detected in GB in the box that gives your machine info, but is not detected for the purposes of FPU tests as per the GB readme.txt.

It’s correct, the math coprocessor in a 68030 and newer integrate the math coprocessor into the 30’s instruction set and it appears as part of the processor. For a 68000, 68010 and maybe the 68020 the processor does not support this integration and the co-processor is memory mapped. This mode of operation is not supported by most of the math libraries for the various Atari language libraries. This is why it doesn’t show up in bench6 because libraries do not support a memory mapped co-processor. This make the 68882 virtually useless in a MSTE unless you're writing your own code or you have a app that has coded it in.

It can be benchmarked with older GEMBench 4.

I have some programmed and tested.

Hi

Originally to install the 68881 into a Mega STE I've read you needed a PAL (or now a GAL) I have managed to get hold of two gal16v8d (I read somewhere this is a replacement) and two PAL16L8-25 (the original chip) does the jed file in the GALS.ZIP just work for the GAL, does anyone have the original PAL code?.

Given the choice which would you use?

Thanks

Brian
