No SCSI controller anywhere though. All the ICs are just CPU, basic logic, and GAL. This is some kind of more direct bus interface.
It is weird, I'll grant you that, and as you say, no SCSI controller. Perhaps there was an actual interface board externally too and this was just the connection to the system?

Approx 20 STs, including a 520 STM, 520 STFMs, 3x Mega ST, MSTE & 2x 32 Mhz boosted STEs
Plus the rest, totalling around 50 machines including a QL, 3x BBC Model B, Electron, Spectrums, ZX81 etc...
