Can I use midi files as game music tracks in STOS?

Post by sety »

Hi guys,

Sorry if this question has been asked before, Google hasn't been too helpful.

Does anyone know if it's possible to play a .MID file in STOS as a game music track? (using the synth, not outputting to midi) or alternatively, if there is any software to convert .MID files to whatever format is in a music memory bank?

Thanks!

If I were you I would research what Doug Little 'DML' did with Badmood. As far as I know it is the only instance of an Atari game with a GS compatible midi audio built in. Of course this would be completely out of the equation for an 8mhz ST. I doubt STOS built something like that in, but maybe someone here can help.

I don't ever remember there being a STOS MIDI player or any conversions utils.

You could ask on the FB group. https://www.facebook.com/groups/stoscoders
