What if you blocking all Amazon servers?
I don't know if there are any consequences of blocking all their servers. But I may have to do that if I keep getting DDOS attacked from amazonaws servers. It's been a ongoing problem for the past few years now.

They look like AI bots. I'd block them personally since their sole aim is to harvest/steal info which might ultimately reduce legitimate traffic to the site

EDIT

Let's keep the web 'webby' :lol:

ClaudeBot is a AI bot.. It's been totally blocked and there's no connection attempts from it now even. So I think it's given up.

Yep. That's the problem with big companies like Amazon. They think just because they have unlimited server processing power that everyone else does as well. Oddly we are not all billionaires :roll:

It's probably not Amazon but an AI company buying CPU time on Amazon servers.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

If you look at the news article it's explains the AI company got like 2bn invested in it.. from.. Amazon.. So the AI amazon server time will be "free".

I've been looking into server protection. Basically when the server CPU maxes it it's pointless keeping it online. But mostly it's the SQL server which causes max CPU. So my idea is to check CPU load, if it maxes out for more than half hour a script will shutdown the SQL server. Obviously the forum and store won't work.. So I can just get nginx to redirect to a custom error page which will tell you that the server is in "protection mode" . Then I'd deal with the issue when I get chance.

Have you considered using CloudFlare to guard against these kinds of attacks?

I did look at ddos protection but it's another £5:a month. cloudflare I think we're also blocking my server like Microsoft are.

I'm sill thinking about it all.
