"At some point" after xmas I will have to pull the trigger and copy the forum over to the new server. It's getting annoying for one as when I do changes to exxoshost stuff, I have to update and copy over to the new server as well. Likely I've missed some changes at some point already. Plus things like the EXXOS STORE tab was rolled out the new server but then had to be back ported onto this one for me to be able to use it. Which needed even more patching. So I really need to stop working on 2 completely different servers as I am basically doing the same work two or three times over and over again

It's also slightly annoying as I am actually paying for three servers currently. Plus a huge amount of cloud storage for templates which I created to use the move when it does actually happen.

exxoshost will point towards a the new forum when the move does actually happen. But obviously any links to exxoshost will likely be broken at that point. But when the server does fully get moved, exxoshost links will work again as it will totally point to the new server. I will have to do this in smaller stages otherwise it will be total carnage if I just point the whole domain to the new server all at once.

The web store will still run on exxoshost even after the forum move. The store does run on the new server but I have to alter the stripe stuff as well which I can only really do when the actual live store is on the new server.

Please take this as the first "notice" things may well likely break at some point. But I will of course do plenty more announcements before changeover day.

I need to find some time to start over again with transferring the forum over to the new server we will get there one day!

Things got a bit delayed due to lack of time and my hands hurting still. But I hope I can make a start on prerperations for the server move this week.

Mostly I am going to switch the DNS server from the current server IP to the new server IP and port the forum database over of course. I will work on fixes and problems after which could span some days.

I will announce when switchover day will happen in good time. Overall please be patient if things don't work right straight after the DNS change. My email and web store will go offline during the move.

I am looking to switch DNS towards the end of the week.

In theory work should only take about a hour (aside from DNS propagation) . But While the forum may be up, I just don't know if everything is functional properly until it all goes live.

I repeat that, All exxoshost services will be broken. Email, websites, forum, webstore etc during the move and may be offline until I am happy things are stable.

So it looks like the move won't happen this week as I've got some screwy DNS issues to figure out now

A lot of the issues on the new server are now fixed

Currently I am exporting the database from this forum to update to upload to the new forum as a practice run of things to come.

I'm hoping you will not be long before the switchover happens.

Finished off the store updates finally. Took a while to redo the postage options as royalfail made it over-complicated with more EU zones. Now there are 74 postage combinations I have to keep updated

I think the updates are all done now. I'll probably pencil in Monday (13th) when the switchover happens.

exxoshost DNS will be updated to the new server. If you're with opendns it normally updates pretty quick. Like within 5 minutes. If you're with others it may take several hours or more to update.

exxosforum.co.uk will direct you to the new server already. Currently there is just a holding page until I do the final forum move. The forum will probably be down for a couple of hours during the move.

Switchover day is still planned for Monday 13th.

I am not at home weekends. But if I get back earlier enough Sunday night ( and awake enough) I may do the changeover then. If not, Monday morning.

@Icky Found the first bug. The old mentions wasn't working. That should now be fixed.

The recent topics list was set to 5 by default, I have upped it to 8 as I *think* that was what it was before.

Fixed a smiley name as "hide" was used twice.

When A user gets a PM they should get a email notification (not sure if this is for new forum users or not). I set this as people keep on sending me PM's and half the time they don't bother to login and read the replies.
