I understand how frustrating it is.

Just arrived:

Looks like a pretty good kit overall. I'll try to get it installed at the weekend, very complete and nicely printed. If it all goes well I'll get the same for my A1200.

I never use the OLED / Jog dial stuff. I use the HxC Floppy Manager (Amiga, Atari ST, Amiga) which is "default" floppy disk containing a bit of software that runs on the host computer. It can read the contents of the mass storage via sideband and put it on the screen, you select disk images using screen/keyboard/mouse. While it was designed for HxC firmware for Gotek, FlashFloppy has mirrored the controls and so it works with that too.

Yeah, I haven't done so either, and I used to use the HxC manager software as well, though I haven't done a mod to have it on screen, so I may do it and avoid the jog wheel etc.

I haven't fully decided yet, but I'll see how I get on with this first.

?? No mods required. The HxC floppy manager software runs on the host computer and the list displayed on the screen using the Amiga/AtariST/Amstrad video hardware just like any other software.

I think you might be thinking of OSD whereby the Gotek overlays video on top of the host computer's image.

Yes, I thought you meant the on screen display.

I have used HxC manager in the past, but with my ST's I found it unreliable and crashy. That was a while ago though, so I could give it another go.

OK, so I have installed the Gotek:

For £30 it's a very good value kit IMHO, it has the mount, the Gotek hardware, the display/selector combo plus all tools and cables needed for the complete install. I am looking at my A1200 now and considering getting one specific to that.

Overall I don't mind the display/selector bump, it works very well, though it is a bit, well, on the large side. I have downloaded the HxC manager software and Autoboot.hfe and I'll have a play around, I need to get used to them again as it's been a while and I remember I stopped using it for a reason last time on my ST.

OK, so the A500 has just had another upgrade, RGB2HDMI :)

Fairly easy upgrade, pretty much plug and play:

Definite bump in picture quality :)

Really need to have a play with my A500, but house moves and redundancy have played havoc with my free time! I did get that exact same Gotek kit off ebay and it works like a charm, but really want a Pistorm, and come to think of it i have a spare pi zero for rgb2hdmi....
