The trouble is, as you know it's a huge pain to disassemble, and I don't want to get into another huge repair on it at the moment.
I understand, and with all your projects in stand by mode, it's not an easy task.
It's going to be a slow burner...
I need to have a bit of a switch around of workspace in my office so I can get the A5000 into a spot where I can continually work on it without blocking my workbench, I don't have that at the moment.
I'm also wondering if some more caps have given way as I already replaced quite a few in the RAM circuit.

With my A5000 the battery corrosion went under the FLOPPY connector and UNDER the IDE connector and only by removing them is it possible to "stop the rot" so neither the IDE nor the FLOPPY work on mine

That's what I did on my A5000, and it was a real mess under each connector.

I don't have a post box I managed it all through the FDD post codes. I did remove my FDD and IDE connectors and it quite a lot to repair, but they do still work, but I felt the SCSI adapter was a better way forward due to the existing damage and the fact I could reduce power requirements using BlueSCSI for hard drives.
Anyway, it's off my desk now (It was doing double duty as a monitor stand for one of my work displays) and has been replaced for monitor raising duties by my Performa 6200 PowerPC Mac.

I just need to clear a spot to allow me to work on it easily, so my re-balling machine is going to need to move. It hasn't been busy lately so it can move elsewhere whilst I need the space.

Just a thought, looking at that rom board, its similar to one I have and I think you will struggle to get it in place with that 1770 board as the 1770 sits right where you need top put the rom board as well (see the cutout on it, that's to go round the keyboard connector).

The 1770 board I have hangs over to the left specifically to avoid that sort of clash

Busy lunch break today, got the A5000 into a space where I can work on it:

However, I'm wondering if the problem all along has been power as the PSU seems to no longer want to start...
I also got a BBC floppy cable made too:

It all buzzed out perfectly so I am good to go for some more testing later.
