Finally got one !
This beauty will be delivered tomorrow morning.
All cleaned, checked and recapped, so hassle free since no repairs to perform
I was about to get an X68030, but I did not feel like patching games so I set my mind on the XVI model.
I will still have to get a mouse for it, but let's keep it for next month...
Further steps will be:
- Add more RAM
- Fit a Henkan Bancho V4:
- Overclock to 24MHz
plus other minor tweaks.
More pics tomorrow.

I guess I will have to get rid of some retro machines, since I have really no more room to pack everything in...
Oddly enough, my wife wasn't angry at all when I told her.

@nokturnal
It was on my list since a while too, but I finally decided to go for it today morning.
Hope you will write an article on it on your website.

Ah the compact model with 3.5'' drives! Lovely! This is the model I would really want too.
Re: Sharp X68000 XVI inbound (tomorrow...)
When I get one probably, but I'm in EU and getting one here in good shape and for not outragous price is quite challenging. And VAT/import/customs fees, potential risk of damage during transport...HigashiJun wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 10:41 am @nokturnal Hope you will write an article on it on your website.

I don't forget you Steve, but prices are still steep even here in Japan...
I was also fond of the compact models until I learned they are hard to maintain and more fragile than the standard 'Twin Tower' counterparts.
Furthermore, you have to make your own 3.5" discs since all games and programmes are on 5 1/4" floppies.
