Woo hoo - Collection Completed!! TRS-80 inbound

Post by rubber_jonnie »

I just managed to get the final machine I've been after for AGES!!

A TRS-80 Model 1 is on the way, this one in fact:

Looking forward to its arrival and giving it the once over. Will likely need some repair/refurbishment, but that's half the fun!!
Collector of many retro things!
800XL and 65XE both with Ultimate1MB,VBXL/XE & PokeyMax, SIDE3, SDrive Max, 2x 1010 cassette, 2x 1050 one with Happy mod, 3x 2600 Jr, 7800 and Lynx II
Approx 20 STs, including a 520 STM, 520 STFMs, 3x Mega ST, MSTE & 2x 32 Mhz boosted STEs
Plus the rest, totalling around 50 machines including a QL, 3x BBC Model B, Electron, Spectrums, ZX81 etc...

Nice to hear you've found your holy grail at long last.
Big question is what will you choose to collect once they are all repaired/refurbed to the required standard? :D

Well, I'm hoping to actually start to use them a bit more :)

I have other projects though, like 2 H4s to build and my OSI Superboard 600 project. I have plenty to be getting on with, oh and my HX-20 isn't fixed yet either!

A good plan - I keep being distracted by the collection of synths/samplers, so the STs are generally used for sequencing & sample editing etc. at the moment...

Ah, yes...I have my second H4 to start plus fixing the floppy issue on the H5C1 (and building the H5B) as well as the work on the BBCs and all the STs...to name but a few!

It’s almost satisfying to find that one elusive machine @rubber_jonnie. Was the same with me with the Enterprise.

Glad your collection is complete, or is it :)

Why was it your holy grail?
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

There were a group of us who had different computers and we formed a computer club and all of these machines were owned by me or my friends. The TRS is the last one from the club, I have all the others, plus a few that made an impression on me too, like the MSX.

I suppose the other reason for it to be a grail machine is that the Model 1 is just so hard to find in the UK these days. Unbelievably, 2 came up on eBay this last week and I was able to make an offer on one.
