A well travelled mug

Post by rubber_jonnie »

A long time ago, 2 years in fact going by the date in March 2020, @Icky was kind enough to send me a Phoenix mug. I have it now, but the journey has been, well, complicated.

So, the mug gets posted to me in early 2020, bearing in mind in September 2019 we'd already moved out of our offices having been bought out by another company. I forgot to mention this to Icky on account of being very busy and now travelling into London 4 days a week.

Said mug arrives at the old office, and as it happens, my boss (who is still my boss as it happens) goes to the old office to wrap some stuff up, collects the mug and plans to bring it to the new office to give it me. Then lockdown happens......

In the intervening two years, my boss moves from his house to a rental property, and the mug goes with him. He subsequently moves to his new house, and the mug again goes with him!!

Also in those 2 years, I move into a rental property and then to my new house, and Icky moves house too.

Finally, 19th March 2022, exactly 1 year after I moved into the rental, I get to go to a do at my boss' new house and finally get the mug!!

The final leg of 42.8 miles from my his house to mine is all that remains, and finally it's here!!

Here's the original date it was sent:

And some profile pics of the mug itself!!

The final part of the journey? From the dishwasher to my office/workshop, where it will become my beverage conveyance of choice when repairing retro gear :)

Glad you finally have it @rubber_jonnie. What a journey.

We have a few Phoenix mugs available in the exxos store if anyone wishes to have one. These new ones however have the Phoenix logo on both sides.
