Ok, so It is a voltage divider, and after putting in all the values in Vin = 5.2v, R1 = 10K and R2 = 120R, the result is 62mV.

Ok, so checking after reinstalling the capacitor I see this:

Which given the reduced R1 value of 8.75K is close enough.

This is the output of my Aquarius:

Slightly higher, but ballpark enough to say that I should leave the MSX alone for now until I have a cassette recorder available to try recording and loading back from.

Interestingly, when I tested the MSX with the capacitor removed, it was more like the Aquarius trace, but the cap made it rather more sawtoothy.

Maybe I was looking for trouble where there was none? Sometimes it doesn't pay to overthink these things.

Interesting, I had one of those as my first computer with the mushy joystick. There is a retro computer shop near me who had one of the original tape decks for these in a box last year, it may be worth asking if he still has it if you need one still

He has FB group Forgotten Worlds Public group

Appreciate the offer, but I made a suitable cable that works fine with the datasette I have.

I'll take a look at the group though.

Thanks 😁
