That's OK, the deputy building manager is on duty.

I popped into "work" and picked the box up.

Superficially it looks like it's nicely made. As I said, I have four spare PCBs.

I've just now got to remember what the voltage and polarity the board needs for power!

I love the use of "work" in quotes.
The 'Uzebox Omega is a fully open source games console that you can build in a weekend, even with no previous electronics experience:

And the TenoxVGA works! It needs 12V and I needed to up the ADC gain on the OSSC and tweak the settings but...

If anyone wants a bare PCB just ask... lots of small SMD components needed to be fitted though.

P.S. Before I let it anywhere near the TT I did lots of voltage checks using the bench power supply etc.

Now that I have a way of displaying TT-High I thought I'd look into getting Debian Linux 3.0 (Woody) up and running again.

So far I've managed it with a bit of hacking and an external SCSI CD/RW drive.

Oh my goodness though, it's glacial. :-)

Oh, and the '\'/'|' key doesn't work even though I have the UK keymap installed, which is sub-optimal for UNIX as pipe is one of the most used characters.

Got the keymap sorted in the end. The original ones were just plain wrong for some keys.

Given that for Debian Woody the m68k architecture was "fully supported" there's a hell of a lot of basics which don't work or don't work out of the box.

For example, the install root filesystem image has an errata saying that they forgot to add the entries for /dev/sr0 and /dev/sr1 so CDs can't be accessed and that you have to manually hack the system to run mknod and then run the installer for a second time. Did anyone actually test this? Not only this but there were six upgrade releases during the supported period and no-one thought to loopback mount the filesystem file and add the nodes, which would have taken 5 minutes.

Secondly, the X server's framebuffer driver is somehow incompatible with the kernel framebuffer on the Atari platform. (XFree86 just says it finds a display but doesn't like it, but with no useful information.)

Apparently Etch is worse in that although it's a supported architecture for the release the debian installer, required to install it, doesn't actually work at all. I'm not sure how that can be a supported platform.

Anyway, it's fun to tinker with after all of that.

On the whole, I'm pleased with the TenoxVGA board, works well.
