Indeed. Well, EVRI do things on the cheap and they know that they don't have that much competition in that space other than Royal Mail.

Royal Mail are going down hill as the regulator who is supposed to keep it in check are weak and bend to whatever RM's owners want them to do. Maybe the new owner will do better but ut takes far more effort to build something up than it does to destroy it. That's entropy for you.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Nope. The AliExpress order for a new solder station (Sugon A9 Pro) is "ready for delivery" with an *aim* to deliver today between 12:07 and 18:07. Seeing as it's already gone 12:07 and it's not left the delivery office, well.

P.S. The soldering station has arrived but nothing else.

Is that the same soldering station More Fun Fixing it recently got? I have a USB powered TS-101 type and it is super flexible.

Yes, though this seems to be slightly more advanced in the tip cleaning part as it has a wire brush instead of a sponge. I ordered a proper JBC tip via Amazon and just tested it. The temperature calibration is spot on.

Oh, and a parcel which was sent to me 1st class yesterday has also arrived, but none of the stuff from nearly two weeks ago has.

Yeah... Surprisingly for AliExpress it has all the CE and UKCA certification. Then again Sugon seems to be a well established company, over 20 years old and looks to make some high-end stuff.

Well, I was out all day today and, of course, all the post, including the chips arrived.

Anyway, just been out to the outhouse and did a test with the 6850s... Well, well! That's interesting!

Install a working 6850 into the MIDI socket and the keyboard stops working. This suggests that something downstream from the 6850 is causing the chip to raise its interrupt line. I'm going to have to look at the schematic.
