Okay, reassembled into the STE case that used to house my "daily driver" STE (with SMT CPU and "good" DMA), and it still works.

I'd installed a switch into the faceplate of the Gotek in the other STE for TOS switching, so it was handy that this "new" STE has the ube switch version of the TOS switcher, making it easy to repurpose that switch for 8/32 MHz selection.

It remains to be seen if DMA will behave, but with the new CPU and new DMA pullups, I suspect all will be well.

V1 series should all work fine with the DMA. Nothing has changed other than the PCB layout really.

Oh I didn't mean I had any concern about the booster. If anything, I'm thinking the booster will help. This STE has the "bad DMA" chip, so my hope is that with the more recent revision 68000, plus the DMA pullups, hopefully the old DMA issues are gone.

All my STEs have the bad DMA :). I think it should be mandatory to have one

Taking a little break from working on the Stacy (can't really proceed at this point until I get the new ubeswitch and the first test of a relocator board), so today I stuck the Storm ST altram board into the H4.

I stuck the storm into a socket before plugging it into the expansion socket because those "passthrough" pins on the Storm are quite fragile, and I may be popping it in and out several times before it finds its final home. To make things fit, the IDE/TOS board is on two extra sockets. I have joined the exxos forum tower builders' society.

Looks good! One of these will end up in the H4, and the other hopefully in the Stacy.

The Storm ST also has a realtime clock option, but what with the H4 board and the UltraSatan, I figure I don't need a third clock. ;)

I received my TF536 from @PhilC today, and stuck it in the H4. It really does fit like a glove...

With a little bit of simultaneous NVDI goodness...

Very nice! The 68030 chip runs warm, no surprise. I have an actual MC68030RC50 here that I might swap in to see if it runs any cooler, with an eye to keeping things cool inside the Stacy if I eventually get the board in there. There actually should be enough room in there for the same very tiny heatsink/fan combo I used on the 68060 in my CT60e, so I may end up doing that.

I also received the ubeswitch @ube sent me for the Stacy project. Thanks ube! I am fairly busy this week, so I may not get any soldering time until the weekend. We'll see!

Does your Ultrasatan work with the TF536? Mine does not, infact my ASCI port is not working with any devise. My setup is a Mega ST4 (brand new MB from best), Cloudy, Lightning, Vofa ET4000 card. The Ultra satan works perfect without the TF536.

Of course I haven't tested extensively yet, but I haven't observed any problems so far. I installed maprom and blitfix into the auto folder and ran GEMBench off of it with no problems. FWIW, using HDDRIVER 10.18.

Sigh. Do not take phone calls while soldering CPLDs. :foldarms:
