At this time, it is unfortunately not possible to whitelist users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

That sounds like quite an 'accident'! ;)
It was quite horrific, but we're all OK now :dizzy:
JezC wrote: Thu Dec 18, 2025 3:30 pm When I get any retro hobby time I need to look at the remaining A500s & A500+ to see what state they are in...so maybe I do need to create that list of known projects and start prioritising them...
You definitely need a list, though I can say this wasn't on mine...
I know how that goes...best laid plans & all that...

FWIW the picture didn't display properly on the original post so I'd be interested in the clearance for the various mods in the A500 as well as relative performance (but no rush for any of that above).

Well that was a bit odd, the image vanished from the attachments tab and left a placeholder name in the post!!!

Now fixed. here it is again:

It will, in the guise I'm using with a Pi Zero 2 W, fit under the keyboard, though I have added some insulation to the metal plate of the keyboard to ensure that nothing can short.

I've been running it all day and it is under 60C, so I don't think I'll add any cooling especially since the top shielding was already removed for the RGB2HDMI.

Once I've got everything as I'd like it (I need to add a 2nd HDMI out and have decided to go ahead with the remote SD card holder) I'll get some proper pics and put them in a separate post. They might even be in focus...

If you decide to add one just go straight for Caffeine OS on a 64GB SD card, it's all you'll need believe me.

Of course it doesn't run as fast or have as much RAM as my A1200 and PiStorm 32 Lite, however it really is more than adequate for an A500.

I also have a BooBip ROM emulator installed, but it's a little redundant now the PiStorm is installed.

And the A500 is now reassembled, but I forgot to take any more photos!!!

I decided not to use the remote SD socket, it's not really important for this machine but I do now have 2 HDMI ports hanging out the side :)

Works just as well as the A1200 PiStorm and I'm happy to have both up and running this way :)

Well, I'm not having a good time of it at the moment.

I spilled a drink on my laptop at the weekend. The keyyboard stopped working, but my replacement arrived today and after reassembly everything is working just fine, except I now have a screen issue!!!

I have discoloured areas with a purple tinge to them:

I was very careful with the IPA when trying to flush the old keyboard and didn't get any on the screen and in fact for almost all of the repair, the display was removed. I tried heating gently, but no change. Maybe it'll fade over time, but if I have to buy a new screen I might as well put the money towards a new laptop

😭 😭 😭 😭 😭

I think I'm going to lie in bed all over christmas and the new year in the hope my luck will improve!!!

It was whiskey.

No liquid got through to the mainboard and other displays are fine, it's s stain on this display, though it feels like it's slowly fading. I'll give it time and see if it recovers. I at least have the use of it again and the replacement keyboard works just fine.

It never rains by it pours!

Let’s hope it fades quickly.
Intro retro computers since before they were retro...
ZX81->Spectrum->Memotech MTX->Sinclair QL->520STM->BBC Micro->TT030->PCs & Sun Workstations.
Added code to the MiNT kernel (still there the last time I checked) + put together MiNTOS.
Collection now with added Macs, Amigas, Suns and Acorns.

Weird, it looks like wipe marks...

There aee definite signs of improvement on the right hand side overnight, so fingers crossed!!

EDIT - And on the left hand side too.
