Well that is the RAM chip (front and centre) desoldered. I'll do a separate topic on this Z88 upgrade.

Looking good so far.
Collector of many retro things!
800XL and 65XE both with Ultimate1MB,VBXL/XE & PokeyMax, SIDE3, SDrive Max, 2x 1010 cassette, 2x 1050 one with Happy mod, 3x 2600 Jr, 7800 and Lynx II
Approx 20 STs, including a 520 STM, 520 STFMs, 3x Mega ST, MSTE & 2x 32 Mhz boosted STEs
Plus the rest, totalling around 50 machines including a QL, 3x BBC Model B, Electron, Spectrums, ZX81 etc...

LBH These things don't always work out as planned, as long as it works in the end 😁

That’s true. I did have a glitch before I started the upgrade and put it down to low batteries.

The LCD was all blue and after doing a hard reset the screen came up with the menu and low battery sign.

I then went ahead with replacing the RAM chip and am faced with the all blue screen again and hard reset doesn’t fix. Yes, I have used different batteries as well.

This, @rubber_jonnie you are right it’s not always as planned.

Damn, that's annoying, but I'm sure you'll figure it out. Reminds me I need to get back to my dead HX-20.
