Hello from London, UK

Post by AlanM »

Hello everyone,

I'm Alan, I used an Atari ST and later a Falcon a lot back in the 80s and 90s, but not much since.

I recently fired up my old Falcon which had been in a cupboard for quite a while and was relieved to find it still works. Had some fun replacing its 64MB hard drive with a CF card, then transferring files using Ghostlink. Now looking to get a 14 MB RAM upgrade.

Cheers,
Alan

Welcome to the forum!

Always good to hear about another Falcon owner joining (especially as there were comparatively so few sold compared to the other retro machines)

Definitely recap/upgrade the PSU sooner rather than later ;)

Thanks for all the welcomes and to JwzC for the warning about the PSU. Unfortunately my soldering skills are negligible, so I'll look into getting a new PSU.

Hi
I'm from Ipswich and also got the Falcon out of storage a while ago. How is the real time clock? I bet it's dead. My Falcon is with Retro Passion getting a recap and RTC replacement. I also fitted a CF card. a few years ago but didn't do much with it. I had a 14Mb card fitted in the 90s. I remember running ghostlink and it working well. I'll have to find the cable to get it working again. I have a usb floppy drive but its a pain to use. I intend to install Mint and get the Falcon running like it was 20 odd years ago. Some good youtube videos and walk throughs that we never had back in the day!

Carl.
