Nice case!
Is that the small Fractal one which has 5.25" openings behind a door at the front?
Forgot what it was called, Pop maybe?

Thanks, I think I might copy you and replace the case I currently use.
That one looks really nice, and a drive bay could come in handy for floppy or cd-rom too :)

Hi,
Was about to test my byteswap adapter to create a „Atari like“ partitioned CF
Intended procedure:
  • Boot to the ROM disk
  • Transfer HDDriver via Ymodem
  • Start HDDriver
  • Partition the CF with HDDRUTIL
The first three succeeded, but upon starting HDDRUTIL I get a Panic from EmuTOS

Do I have a problem with the byteswap adapter or with the system?

Without the byteswap adapter everything works fine…

What about card partitioned on a PC like before. Stick in the byteswap adapter. No HDDriver stuff?
EmuTOS's driver doesn't care - it autodetects and works with both big and little endian IDE interfaces, so should at least be able to hint at software vs hardware by checking if your card works equally fine in EmuTOS both with and without the byteswap adapter.

Everything is in the correct orientation and making pin1 match up everywhere?
motherboard <-> byteswap adapter <-> cf adapter

Which version of HDDriver are you using? I think the last version I bought was a few years old now in case that has anything to do with it.
I probably should upgrade, it's only 12 euros to upgrade from 11 to 12 anyway :)

If you activated copyback cache I would try again without in case HDDriver wasn't made compatible with that.

Oh, yes… the PC formatted cf should work even with the adapter - completely ignored this :D
I am quite sure that I have built the adapter correctly - but I will double check
I was testing with HDDriver 9.02 and 11.13 - same results

Made a quick testing:
Byteswap adapter works with the PC formatted CF, as before
And even starting HDDriver and HDDRUTIL from the booted system works without the panic
So, maybe my second CF is corrupt and causing this…
Or transferring the quite large HDDRUTIL leads to a corrupted file…

The initial reason to test the byteswap adapter was to try to access a CD ROM via Extendos
I think Extendos (version 4.20 from www.anodynesoftware.com website) needs the byteswap Atari access - but Extendos always complains with „no bus found“
But I am also not sure if a) Extendos works with EmuTOS and b) the Raven IDE let me access a slave jumpers CD ROM on the same cable

Anybody tried this already?

Ooh that would be quite cool if that worked!
I haven’t tried master+slave but figure it should probably ’just work’ (but you never know for sure until tested of course :D )

I’ve never used cdrom on any Atari and don’t know a thing about Extendos and such though, would be pretty cool if that works.

I will continue trying at the weekend
Maybe 1st with a second cf card as slave and the again with the CD drive
Let’s see…

Only managed to do a quick first test…
But: Master+Slave „just works“ :D

Crimped a 20cm 44p cable with 3 IDC connectors and connected two CF-Adapters, one as Master the other as slave
Both CF cards were formatted with FAT16 on the PC with one partition.
System boots, both cards are accessible and files could be copied back and forth

Next tests will be with byteswap adapter and „Atari partition format“, and also with longer cables

Edit:
Managed to crimp a 44p cable of 60cm length and connected the two CF adapters. Runs flawlessly, even at this length
Also connected the byteswap adapter (but the CFs are still in FAT16 PC format - also works
Next will be to create a Atari formatted CF to work with the byteswap adapter. Up to now, neither HDDriver nor PPera driver likes the FAT16 CF cards. Not directly and also not via the byteswap adapter. Strangely HDDriver sometimes detects the two CF cards three times on different IDE ports.
Not sure if the Raven IDE port is somehow mirrored to different addresses?
