Raven. A homemade Atari-like computer
Re: Raven. A homemade Atari-like computer
It's Petr's PARCP! I usually end up there when nothing else works - or even when I don't have the patience to try other options, it always works

Re: Raven. A homemade Atari-like computer
Same here! Even though I have uip for ftp through the network card I usually end up using PARCP out of old habit

Re: Raven. A homemade Atari-like computer
MagiC for Raven is now integrated in the official github repo and part of the binary snapshots.

Many thanks @thorsten.otto !
Near instant boot to multitasking desktop, so nice!
There's stuff to be done and tested still, and some rough edges to smooth out, but this is a very good start.
I will include a MagiC section in the Raven documentation, when I get around to documentation again...
The IDE interface needs to be big-endian like real Ataris so a byteswap adapter is required when using the current revision A1 board.
Some kind of hard disk driver is also required. I'm using HDDriver since I'm used to it from my ST.
Raven rev.A2 has already been adjusted to have a big-endian IDE interface. It'll make no difference for EmuTOS since it works with just about anything you can throw at it, but AtariTOS and MagiC are picky so it makes sense if it behaves as any other Atari by default.

Yes!!
I really like Magic......

So the reason MagiC won't boot on my Raven is because I don't have an adapter like this:agranlund wrote: Thu Jul 03, 2025 11:59 pm

MagiC is really very interesting...

Re: Raven. A homemade Atari-like computer
Thanks @agranlund for another great update. I'm going to have to build that second Raven soon.
If it ain't broke, test it to Destruction.
Re: Raven. A homemade Atari-like computer
Just tested the new firmware. That interleave function.. Is that only for higher mem cards?
As it does not seems to display correctly on the 1 mb version ( yes I reduced screen resolution because I expect it will have 512kb in interleave). but maybe you need more ram.
Did you add more ram to the card somehow?

Re: Raven. A homemade Atari-like computer
@Oldskool you need a 2mb card and it yo be wired correctly for that to work.
Hopefully the new card I'm building will do it.
