Cyber Legends V3.0 ?? Any takers?

Post by PhilC »

As these things can take a bit of organisation I thought I’d ask if there was any interest in running a third event and if so, where, when etc?

If it's at the same place again then possibly. But if its further away then likely not.

I also suggest a couple months earlier so it's not as dark at 6pm for going home. I think everyone went about 6 thinking the same as me about not really wanting to drive in the dark.. But then I do know some had a few hours drive back as well, but still...

I'd be up for a revisit to Weston Favell.

Might even bring something with me.

I'm game (and have been given permission by the boss to attend as well...though I might be accompanied by even more of the family next time!)

Sure...and her eldest daughter might attend as well...probably drawn by the chance to embarrass all of us with her gaming high scores (or at least she used to when she was in her teens)...

Blimey @PhilC. You're keen.

Whilst it was a bit of a trek to Northampton for me, I could possibly stay with my cousin for the night (Richard, who was there) or maybe do a hotel next time (because next time I wont have a fully packed car, Im bringing 2 small computers! Honest!) :D

However, one thing I will say on a more serious note; If planning is starting this early, then theres a good chance more people will want to exhibit and while the hall was just about ok this time, IMHO its a tad small moving onwards. I think there were far more potential exhibitors that could have attended if we didnt have any sort of table limits to think about.

Perhaps theres something more suitable in fairly close proximity?

For me it's a 2 1/2 hour drive, so I just need enough notice to know when and where it'll be, and make sure it won't clash with anything else we've got arranged.

Thanks for the comments so far, I did think that the hall might be a bit small if things got a little bigger than this year.

Just getting ideas so far but does anyone else fancy hosting one in their area instead as well?

Not much to report here, but the ball is rolling, albeit slowly...

I have only spoke briefly to @PhilC about it, but the main points to consider here this time are:
  • Early organisation of venue/time, so that more people can actually plan to come (and actually make it).
  • Event to be held earlier in the year, so that people that have travelled far - as much as can be helped - dont have to travel home in the dark.
  • Travel distance: The Northampton general area seems to be a fairly ideal spot for everyone to get to, so the event will be located in a similar location.
  • Size. As ideal as the last venue was in location, its unfortunately not going to do for the next event, as we will have more exhibitors and (hopefully) attendees.
As Richard L (my cousin who attended the last event) lives in the MK area, Ive asked him for any pointers on a good location in the area.

I would LOVE to hold the event at Bletchley, but I think the venue would be very expensive.

Anyway, if anyone has any good ideas, then please let me know by PM or here.

More news soon. Many thanks. :)
