Looking for one to connect to my Falcon if anybody has one?
Cheers,

Wanted - external SCSI cd drive
Re: Wanted - external SCSI cd drive
You can buy a SCSI drive emulator and they support CD-ROM ISOs. E.g. ZuluSCSI, RARSCSI, BlueSCSI(v2)

Thanks Alex
Yep I've got a BlueSCSI but just tempted to get an external device like I had back in the day.
Cheers,
Simon

This is the one panasonic kxl-810a that I use with my Falcon and it works flawlessly. They are pretty cheap on ebay and there are more than a few.

Re: Wanted - external SCSI cd drive
FYI not all external SCSI CD players support streaming CD audio. I bought a similar Panasonic one like that expecting to be able to play CD audio through my Falcon's audio, but to my surprise it wasn't supported. Roger Burrows (author of Extendos) told me not all devices supported it. Was a let down because that's the main thing I wanted to do lol. Just letting you know in case you have similar ideas
Re: Wanted - external SCSI cd drive
@Steve I'm surprised by the exact opposite: when you _can_ stream audio via SCSI, how on earth does _that_ work?
I remember some utility / driver which would show CD audio tracks as *.wav files in GEM window but still, you had to connect CD-ROM's audio out to the speakers to hear something.
I wasn't a PC user back then but didn't you have to connect CDROM's audio out also for games like Quake to listen to their CD soundtrack?

Re: Wanted - external SCSI cd drive
Anyway, I also have a valid post for this thread. I do have one unit:
brought all the way from Australia. Initially I wanted to make an external case for the CosmosEx from it but I guess that is never going to happen, so it's just collecting dust. I'm open to part with it for postage fees only but:
- it's relatively big
- it's heavy
- it's untested

That is a really kind offer, thank you so much - I shall send you a PM!
