I have a 1040STE + Exxoshost Diagnostics Cartridge, and when i run the DMA Port Test it tells me:
D0 DMA time-out
Fail at cycle:000001
Does this mean the 1040STE has an issue i need to fix, and if so, what?
Thanks in advance!

Re: STE + Exxoshost Diagnostics Cartridge DMA Port Test, a question!
I suspect you'd need the original full test harness to perform some of the tests.
There was probably a cable that plugged into the DMA socket and looped back connections or routed them to another port.

Re: STE + Exxoshost Diagnostics Cartridge DMA Port Test, a question!
There is a PCB with cables that is attached to every port to do a couple of the test on the diagnostic cartridge. This is what the manual says about it:
EDIT: BW beat me to the answer...
Code: Select all
DMA TESTS (D) (REQUIRES ST DMA PORT TEST FIXTURE)
Four sectors (2048 bytes) of data are written to the RAM on the port test fixture via
high speed DMA, then read back and verified. This test is repeated many times for
RAM addresses throughout the range of RAM.

or do I "just" need that Atari DMA test kit mentioned at Atari-Forum...?

Have a look here for more info: https://www.exxosforum.co.uk/forum/viewt ... =91&t=3796
There are a few tests that require external connections, and in the case of the kit I have, it also takes power from the joystick port, so it's essential they are working properly beforehand.
Also, for the STE you will see the extended joystick port test fail since even the enhanced diagnostic harness has no test connectors for those. Threw me the first time I saw it until I realised.
Just reminded me too, I have some extra to do for that post
