DO NOT USE DEVICES WHERE THE IP CHANGES CONSTANTLY!
At this time it is unfortunately not possible to white list users when your IP changes constantly.
You may inadvertently get banned because a previous attack may have used the IP you are now on.
So I suggest people only use fixed IP address devices until I can think of a solution for this problem!

MIDI Timing, its wayyyyyy out somehow.

The place to ask all those likely daft questions!

MIDI Timing, its wayyyyyy out somehow.

Post by BeigeFM »

Hi Everyone,

Brand new #Noob MIDI Thread. I create a thread some time ago, wanting to step into MIDI for the first time.
Im using Atari STE, Roland MT-120 and n Evolution MK-125 I picked up from Ebay for 18 quid delivered :))

Everything, and I mean everything is cleaned and serviced so it all works well.

I understand nthe difference between MIDI and GS/GM Midi (Channel 10!) So I am making good progress.

The trouble I am having is that while I record on my Atari and it plays back fine, its like the timing of the key presses is out. I can only describe it as if the notes are 'snapping to' a preset rhytham.

If I play slowly, it records it just about, If I play quick then its pretty much all out of step.

Using Cubase, setting TEMPO to 240 'possibly' helps ? Perhaps thinking Tempo is the 'snap to' for the notes.

Ive tried select all and quantize, which doesnt look to work the magic that I see on Youtube Videos demonstrating Cubase on the Atari ST.

So I am a bit lost really, can someone help this Noob to understand what the problem could be (Me?)

Cheers All!

Are you running under plain TOS or MiNT?

TOS 2.06, Im thinking its something to do with quantize (which must be like snap?)
Seems odd that the chaps on youtube have no difficulty with it.
Im looking at the screens as they demonstrate the Atari and trying my best to copy settings.

So far, it sounds fine, but the 'magic' of quantize cleaning up my missed notes seems to be worse than using quantize :)
