You are supposed to remove that centre bar.

i'm not really looking for an argument, i just want my falcons back together and to use them :(

Small pair of snips and nibble away at the centre section is the only way I can think of.

Yep.. Use some short side-cutters and cut the centre then cut a few millimetres in the centre bar again, then cut the outsides of the bar.. If you try to cut any other way you will damage the socket...

Alternatively(which is probably better) is to just use a sharp knife to cut the edges of the centre bar.

so others prob have this issue too, i think i need a battery anyway, so will pop to asda.

That rtc did the trick, cutting the plastic with a sharp project knife was the way forward,
