Re: Where to start with my broken ST?

Nothing looks to be screamingly obviously wrong. The clips are still in place on the PLCCs. That's a good sign. All the memory resistors looks to be in place. The only thing that catches the eye is one of the pins on the centre PLCC (MMU?) looks odd. Could just be that white crayon used on the tops ...

Re: Where to start with my broken ST?

A decent quality photo of the motherboard might be informative.

If, for exampe, there is evidence of a removed memory expansion, there are a few obvious things to check.

Re: exxos blog - random goings on

So I'm kinda screwed now really unless I can find the same motherboard as i have now. Putting anything else in will likely screw my system drive up even more. No clue at what point motherboards won't work with win 7. But I use the floppy drive and my board was the last board with a floppy port. I'v...

Why are you getting C409 involved? It shares no common positive side connection to C459.

Just run a line to VREF, either on U12 chip, to the trace, as exxos says or to C458.

D1 = Red
D2 = Yellow
D3 = Green

Cathode is board edge.
You can also do what I did on my current board:

D1 = Red
D2 = Also Red
D3-D5 = Can't be bothered.

:lol:

Re: PiStorm Chat

By ignoring bus errors on writes (bad thing) and just handing it off to the hardware and continuing to process the emulated CPU, I've been able to get writes up to 100%. There's a fair way to go on reads, though. Average throughput on gembench is up to 68% and, if cheating by switching to 020 emulat...

Re: DoG's DFB1 Build

Started with my DFB now. Soldered in the big IC. Looks great. Nice and straight. Enjoy yourself when you have to do all the passives and resistor networks on the rear :) Wimps! :lol: It's pretty quick if you dole out the passives you want first then do all the same ones in one pass. I haven't done ...

Re: exxos blog - random goings on

I was not at home yesterday so the STE is turned off the entire time. Anything I did just was to change the reset to solve the previous issue. And now with either version of shifter installed the video is perfectly fine again. Bit more drying out after the bath? Anyway, she looks a go-er. Nice one!...
