Re: Basilisk II Atari

Woohoo! Got this working. I pulled a new Quadra Rom and also used the 7.17.22 version of Atari Basilisk II. Using the Falcon with CT63 running in RGB mode interlaced, 64k color, and emulated video. I was able to run with 256 colors and boot up Civ 2 and run for a while. Big thanks to @Badwolf for h...

Re: Issues with pp hdd driver, exacerbated by ScummST

I'd be interested if anyone else using the ppdriver could try out ScummST and see if they have similar issues. I recall issues with ScummST when using that driver and adding some workarounds in ScummST to try and combat those. Unfortunately can't remember the exact details but I believe that as a c...

Re: TF536 - Atari firmware - Rev2 TF536

With stability fixes etc, 6509 frames. Feels very smooth indeed. (Same setup without gofast.prg: 4110 frames) That "gofast.prg" utility program program relies on the ability to toggle L2 write-through in the firmware so it is currently relevant for this thread. But now that I've been toyin...

Re: TF536 - Atari firmware - Rev2 TF536

the ST-RAM in the TT has the same memory access scheme for the CPU as in the ST - 500ns for every memory slot. The only difference is 32bit width vs 16bit. Aha, so 16bit writes and (cache-miss) 16bit reads are as slow as on the ST (<4MB/s)? The others at around twice the performance just like on Fa...

Re: TF536 - Atari firmware - Rev2 TF536

@agranlund Can I run some of these special versions on my TT, think it'd get some awesome results? Are they available to download. I think those special Frontbench builds may be slower than the normal one on a TT. They have a quite large overhead of additional work (in fastram space), which is wort...

Re: TF536 - Atari firmware - Rev2 TF536

Child off a few scan lines off the top of the screen and get even higher :P I think this is far as I can push it without even more help from the cpld, and I am really running out of space (and brainpower) to do so. You really need to try castle master on a stock machine  once you get inside th...

Re: TF536 - Atari firmware - Rev2 TF536

so... is this considered cheating? :hide: :) exxos says.. Probably yes  But it also demonstrates what a marvel piece of software engineering can accomplish! what about 6880 ? That game runs very very smooth now.. although the rasters (or some other palette related stuff) are going nuts! IMG_64...

Re: TF536 - Atari firmware - Rev2 TF536

so... is this considered cheating? :hide: :) Perhaps it is, it's not quite general purpose yet. Also not quite stable  But, 6068 frames on standard Frontbench! https://youtu.be/P9O15EUqrC4 (gofast.prg disables write-through for the L2 on the TF536, then makes sure the Shifter is being fed by re...

Re: TF536 - Atari firmware - Rev2 TF536

We have a winner! First Frontier* result over 4200? * Not strictly Frontbench as it's not comparing like with like software-wise, but still probably the highest frame count seen? It does bring quite a bit of motivation to implement automatic ST-RAM write avoidance. So the same score or higher could...
