Re: A BBC B is coming, but it has a tinge of sadness

As the OS scans the ROMs any without extra decoding will appear 4x... once for 15-12 and 3 ghost/alias images. It checks the first 1K against the other ROMs and if that is identical it assumes the ROM in the logical bank is a duplicate so marks it as NFG in the ROM table. What you need is BASIC in ...

Re: A BBC B is coming, but it has a tinge of sadness

All normal. Your combined MMFS+BASIC ROM is a 32KB 27C256 with 2 images in - the standard sockets on a B only address 16KB hence my adapters. Ok, that makes perfect sense. The Acorn MOS checks the ROMs from 15->0. It starts the first "language" ROM it finds. Right most socket is 15 (and 3...

Ok, so have you applied the other mandatory fixes? Mandatory Fixes Whilst they are not necessarily all relevant to the STE, many are and will help stabilise the machine. BTW, if these repairs are part of another thread, can I suggest you either link back to that thread, or add these comments there,...

Re: A BBC B is coming, but it has a tinge of sadness

PB05 is BASIC2. Seems you have a 32KB MMFS+BASIC2 EPROM in the piggy back socket of the ROM/RAM so you could remove the BASIC mask ROM thus freeing up a socket. My 64KB EEPROM is no longer available (chips out of production) but I replaced it with a FLASH version (64/128KB). Ok, so I removed the ba...

stephen_usher wrote: Thu Aug 11, 2022 1:54 pm It's interesting that it's been manufactured without a solder resist layer. That's very late 1970s that is.
Given it's a repro board, clearly the whole plan was to make it look as original as possible.

The lack of solder resist was about the first thing that caught my eye too.

Re: MegaST keycaps

Hi, I'm in the process of buying a MegaST2 from Mikro. It is being sold with a european (German?) keyboard. My question is : Are the keycaps for MegaST keyboard compatible with other Atari ST keyboards? Could I replace the keycaps with those from a UK ST keyboard? Are they physically and visually (...

In an effort to give myself more to do (Like I needed to), I've just got myself an OSI Superboard 600 Rev D via a chap over at Stardot.

Re: A BBC B is coming, but it has a tinge of sadness

So, I pulled the lid off the Cumana 5/14 Double drive, and it's a monster!! PXL_20220811_080554053.jpg Despite a single power cord, there are 2 linear PSUs, one for each drive, with what looks like a rectification/filtering board in a small cage to the side. I do see electrolytics, but I'm not seein...
