Re: The Atari Logo

When Hasbro bought Atari Corporation, they changed the logo to this monstrosity (along with the name to Atari Interactive): Maybe Hasbro touched the logo, but at least they kept the concept of the volvano with the magma tube in the center instead of Infogrames reinventing the whole concept as a &qu...

Re: CPU speeds... and why Amiga will never "come back"

Adding your graphics card not to conflict with the sound card and various other things on the motherboard was low-level hardware diagnostics. It was something interesting and something to figure out. This is really lost with modern platforms. PC's are just for the masses and just simply sterile env...

Re: CPU speeds... and why Amiga will never "come back"

A bog standard desktop from 2014 (i7 4770K @ 4Gz) does 133,000 Mips I agree with the entire message. Just want to point out that a "i7 4770k" is not what you found in a "bog standard desktop", the K models are designed to be overclocked, and that's a i7, so that was on the high ...

Re: Mega STe stability issues.

That looks right. I'm interested to see the result. I need to do proper testing, but at least some large programs (big demos which required 4 megs of ram to load) seem to be more reliable, there were a couple of them which would crash at some point, and I ran them a dozen time in a row without any ...

I reverted the SIL (the marking is toward the rear of the computer) so the pin with a dot is closer to the Vcc pin.

I thought of that, but was wondering about why everybody was soldering to some other location on the motherboard instead of the chip's Vcc

Re: Mega STe stability issues.

I finally received my parts for the machine (resistors, gals, etc...) and I looked on this thread about how to install the pullup on the FDC, but I realize that the location where people connects to get the +5v on the 1st pin on the SIL resistor does not match the Mega STe layout. So before I do any...

Re: SCART Cable recommendations?

Just adding one more recommendation to the list since it was not mentioned: https://www.retrocomputershack.com/RCS-Website/Products-Page/index.html I have two of these, one for my Oric Atmos and one for the Atari STe, and they work very well. The Oric cable even has a smart design where you plug the...
