Re: LC III - Will it ever run?
There was a fair amount of battery leakage around/in the ROM sockets so I wouldn't be surprised if marginal things are lurking near/under them.

Re: LC III - Will it ever run?
The other CPU was much the same - I hope you have better luck with it than I did. I’m pleased that the pads are mostly still good as I must have put quite a lot of heat into some of them trying to get the pins to sit flat/straight.

Re: General Stuff(tm)
@lilwashu Personally I'd have got a Dremel out on that CPU and soldered wires to bridge from the internal parts of the pins and the remains of the pins on the board. Far less risky. I did try this but there was so little good metal left I couldn’t get enough of it exposed. Several of the other pins...

Re: General Stuff(tm)
It needed a CPU change because of the cap damage eating the pins:
It's fair to say my CPU replacement attempt didn't go well (cough) so I gave up at this point before messing it up further.

Re: Mac @ 40
I think my first exposure to a Mac was via a wealthy friend of the family in the late 80s, was probably a Mac SE of some description and seemed impossibly futuristic with its mouse, windows, really sharp display and sampled sounds (I had a spectrum +3 at the time). There was some Star Trek game with...

Re: TF1260 New Firmware Alpha Released!
I could be mistaken but I believe that with the earlier version, any overclock would result in HDD errors. I think that's what I am looking out for anyway, if no one has HDD errors at higher clock speeds, then it sounds positive. On my rev1 with current rev firmware I still get immediate onboard ID...

I won't be able to make it this time - will there be an ability to buy raffle tickets etc. to help with the costs?

Re: The daemon Mac IIci: Can it be fixed?
I did all the mainboard caps except the axial ones, all I did in the PSU was clean it, grind the rust off, paint it and remove 5x rifas of which one had already failed (annoyed I missed two of them!).
