THE DX100 MIXER MAP EDITOR

This mixer map allows for the editing of most of the parameters available on the DX100 synthesiser. I think it will work with the DX27 too but I don't have access to one to try it out.
As usual there are a few things that need to be explained due to anomalies / limitations of both the DX100 and Cubase mixer maps. Read on.
This mixer map has over 110 controllers spread over several screens of the mixer map. You just have to scroll to get to each section.
They are laid out as follows:

	HOME PAGE
master operators on/off -------------> LFO CONTROL
	| |
	| |
Operator 4 env. PERFORMANCE CONTROL
	| (portamento, pitch bend range etc)
	|
Operator 3 env.
	|
	|
Operator 2 env.
	|
	|
Operator 1 env.

The first thing you see on the home page which deals with operator on/off , velocity sensitivity, keyboard scaling, etc is a large horizontal slider giving you access to ALL combinations of operator on/off over the four operators. (eg. 1010 = op1 on, op2 off, op3 on, op4 off . ). This came about because the DX100 uses a discrete Sys Ex message for each of these combinations making it difficult to set up a simple "toggle" switch for each operator. I did come up with a toggle switch (op On/Off) but unfortunately due to a limitation in the mixer map it will not indicate to you whether the operator is on or off. However successive clicks on this button WILL toggle the appropriate operator on or off. So you get both. Luckily the DX's display will follow you as you use the editor so you can always glance over to see what operators are on....or if you want a particular combination quickly use the slider!
The operator On/Off toggle control is duplicated in each of the operator envelope / level /freq. areas for your convenience.
By and large when the map pops up you can use either the 'PROG' (selects internal or bank play sounds) or 'preset' (selects preset sounds) control to find a sound then just start editing. The DX normally goes directly into edit mode but sometimes if it's in play mode it wont respond. If this happens just click on the 'edit mode' button to force the issue.(the 'normal' and 'shift' versions of sounds are only able to be switched at the sythesiser)
Another awkward thing is that cubase maps don't permit a display value offset. This leads to the situation that on some parameters a difference of 1 will occur between what the editor says and what the DX is doing. This is most significant with the 'algorithm select'. Here '0' = alg.1 : '1' = alg2 : '2' = alg3 etc. Sorry nothing I can do.
Any changes you make will have to be saved at the DX100's local controls... remember to turn mem protect off!
I have found that the ability to copy Envelope parameters useful in programming DX synths. To this end the 'copy EG' control is included....sort of.
The proceedure is as follows.
Set up the EG to be copied OR select the EG to be copied using 'select operator' button.
Click on EG Copy.
On the DX select destination operator using operator select.
On the DX push 'Store' button.... done.
Everything else works as usual....but with lots fewer button pushes!
Good luck.
