The 3-in-1 monitor adapter (Falc2VGA) is a small piece of hardware that plugs into the monitor port of the Atari Falcon030. Its main purpose it to make it possible to connect the Falcon to a monitor using a standard VGA cable. It also provides a switch to toggle between RGB and VGA video modes (useful for monitors that accept both RGB and VGA frequencies), and an external clock signal to the Falcon030 video chip (to enable higher screen resolutions) compatible with the Blow-Up software.
The monitor adapter comes with a 40MHz oscillator which can be changed on the onboard socket for a faster one such as 50MHz (sold separately item #0201 , but not all Videl will apparently run at that speed) . The oscillator provides an external clock signal to the video chip of the Falcon to make it possible to achieve higher resolutions than
the standard video modes when used in combination with the Blow-Up software.
NOTE: You need a 5V USB PSU to power the board (not included) I do not recommend using phone chargers for this either (You do not need the osc or power to the board to use standard falcon resolutions). I sell quality USB cables items #0150,#0151. The OSC has a sharp corner which corresponds to the sharp corner on the pcb silk screen print (do not go on the socket orientation) .
This new design now has an auto power off for the oscillator. Orange LED denotes USB power. Green LED denotes OSC power (when the falcon is turned on).
