This sets you Ping address. Keep Connected will send data packets to this address and see how long it takes for them to bounce back. The data packet size is set by the idle bar slider. Note that Keep Connected does not actually Ping the address it sends data packets out and waits for them to bounce back from the server. See the idle bar for more information.
