STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE TO THE GET IT FUNCTION

This guide will hopefully explain the GET IT function more in-depth for those of you who are experiencing problems understanding how this function works.

Once you clicked on the GET IT button you will be asked if you wish to grab the buttons or not. Clicking NO will take you back to the main screen. Clicking YES will take you to the next screen.....

Keep Connected will then minimize to a small window. This is done as Keep Connected fills up a lot of the screen so its necessary to make it smaller so you can get to click on the windows you want. The GET IT button will flash to show its recording what you are clicking on.

You will now see the short message which tells you that the next screen you click on must be the title bar of the window.

Here we see the "Connect To" screen. Notice the mouse pointer is over the blue title bar with the words "Connect To" on it.

Here will click the "Connect To" title bar and Keep Connected Records this click.

You will now see a short message which tells you the next thing you click on will be recorded. This time we will want to click on a button

Here the "Connect" Button is clicked on. This button will also be recorded.

You could also click the Cancel button if you wished. If you are using the REDIAL option then other connection boxes such as the one to the right should be canceled.

If you dial with the REDIAL option and then click on a Connect button at the same time then you might have a conflict between 2 dial-up connections in which case you could have problems.

You will then be asked to select if the event delay is placed after of before the event. In most cases AFTER will be fine, so click Yes. You can alter this latter by right clicking the event in the list and choosing before or after from the menu.

This is a reminder that its worthwhile to check the connections list to see if Keep Connected stored the button correctly.

If all went well then you will have setup a "Event". If you clicked on something wrong then that's no problem. You can always delete the event from the list and start again. There is no harm in setting up events incorrectly. Even if you run a "invalid" event, Keep Connected will simply not find the window so no harm is done.

If you have anything like "Null Window" in the list then you have not selected a valid window or make a mistake. Delete that event and start again. Also note that "toolbars" are not "Classed" as valid buttons or windows.

Now you are all ready and set! Next time that "Connect To" screen is seen Keep Connected is set to press the "Connect" Button.

It should be noted that to Enable the event you must click on the small box to the far left of the Event.

You will of course have to make Keep Connected ACTIVE for anything to work.

NOTE.

The delay time is after the event has been done. In this example the connect button was pressed. Normally it takes around 20 seconds for a normal modem to dial and connected. So the delay value should be set to 20 seconds. This simply ensures the modem Has chance to connect before Keep Connected checks anything else. You can of course alter this value by clicking on the event and moving the event pause timer bar up or down.
