Steinberg Avalon 2 manual available

Post by Waxjoz »

Today I've made a copy of the Avalon 2.0 manual. I took pictures and made a pdf. I think it will available for download here soon. If you're in a hurry and can't wait, PM me. :D

I've found Avalon 2.0 in a forgotten corner of a music shop near the Dutch town Tilburg,
somewhere around 2002.
The salesmen were surpised that I was interested. They were even laughing at me,
seeing I was so glad with it. There was disbelieve on their faces. I paid 25 euro.
There was still a pricetag of appr. 400 euro (895 Dutch guilders) on it.

In it were 4 diskettes as described in the manual, a black dongle and the manual.

In fact there were two manuals in the package:
1. an old manual of version 1, without the synthesis options and less supported
hardware samplers.
2. the manual of version 2.00

Contrary to earlier Cubase manuals, the 2 Avalon manuals were totally different,
rewritten versions.

I've only copied the version 2 manual. If people are also interested in the other version,
contact me through http://www.atarimusic.net. Maybe I'll do it one day. :)

Wow this is fantastic work! I've been thinking about photographing my THe Complete Cubase Handbook by Udo Weyers 2nd Edition from 1996. It is 400 pages long though!!!

Well, may I suggest a six pack of beer and a long, long, long night ahead of you....

Oops! I just gave away my secret of how I built this site!

Seriously, though. You'd have a whole ton of gratitude from the Atarians in this community...

Yeah, I have The Cubase Handbook by Udo Weyers in Dutch, won't be of much use for most Atari users here. Pfff, am I lucky, my un-understandable language just saved me a lot of work. ;)

hi :D

just signed up to this great site!

I have downloaded Avalon 2.0 + Manual and am wondering if all the drivers are included..?

i am hoping to use Avalon with an Akai s950 and later on an Ensoniq EPS 16+.

the following drivers are listed in Avalon crack 2.0 ;

AKAI_900.DRI
ESQ_EPS.DRI

anybody know if these will work with S950 and EPS16+ ?

i am unable to test at this point.

cheers,

The drivers were part of the program, with Akai compatible samplers supported over scsi (where available) and all others via MIDI sample dump standard, which many samplers still support.

At the very least the s950 will work over MIDI :-)

Hello Jos,

thanks for sharing your story about finding your Steinberg Avalon package.

I had the same feeling when I finally was able acquire a full original package of the German version of Avalon 2.1, including a printed manual and the Avalon dongle, of course.

I was wondering if you ever managed to scan or photograph your other version 1 manual?

I was hoping that this older manual would contain more basics on getting started with Avalon, such as "how to load existing samples into Avalon and play them back".... Yes, you read that right, even after reading my Avalon 2.1 manual, I am stuck and unable to perform this "simple" task.

I just opened up a new topic about it here:
http://atarimusic.exxoshost.co.uk/forum ... =23&t=1268

Any help - for an Avalon Dummy like me - will be appreciated.

If anyone else here is willing to chime in, please do so.

Thanks!
