New AMIGA 1200 song.
No topics in "Amiga" corner yet?
OK then, let it be -
my the newest A1200 song:
This is my second song made on Amiga 1200 with standard CPU
(Motorola 020, 14Mhz).
The song has 8 channels and has been composed on DigiBooster 1.7.
All samples by me (made on the Amiga, not on PC ).
Recorded from real hardware. (Stereo slightly modified).
Enjoy.

We have had a few Amiga tunes on the AMN Live! player, but nothing int he Amiga corner of the forum.
Its pretty good that the first post is done by the undisputed king of tracker music

Re: New AMIGA 1200 song.
Hahah, thx but I'm not.
Anywayz. Yupp, I try to prepare some A1200 on-line album with such songs.
On the other hand, from this derived an idea to make later other compilations - with Atari STe music and with Atari Falcon music.
(We already made a set of Atari ST songs
on http://ym-digital.i-demo.pl/ ).
But the A1200 is what I bought lately and actually my Falcon has broken sound (grrrrrrr) and STe has broken video (GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR).
Best regards,
Y

New AMIGA 1200 song.
I was given a 1200 recently and got it working, once I have my MG TF sorted out I'll be looki at getting the amiga fully up and running.
For the moment though the falcon has been retired and the iMac pressed into service, though once the current projects are done the falcon will return...
Hope your falcon is sorted soon, may be something simple. There is a utility in the falcon downloads section where you can reset the audio subsystem, which may help.
There was a thread on the Atari forum where Simbo mentioned a utility for checking the dsp to make sure that was ok. Not sure what it is though at the moment.

Well, if that's a standard 020 CPU, then supposedly DigiBooster 1.7 is all You can get from it. 8 channels. With some limitations (the tracker has some bugs sadly).
Supposedly with faster CPUs You might use DigiBooster Pro or 3. They're faaaaaaar better, they say.
As for me, I stay with the standard config for now, to see (hear ) what it's capable of.
The A1200 album is on its way.

Re: New AMIGA 1200 song.
I suppose the next thing is to have a chiptune that uses the Atari ST / Falcon and the Amiga 600 / 1200 etc. Might bring some harmony between the two rival camps!

Hmmm, actually I'm not sure if tempos would be OK.NCGM wrote:I suppose the next thing is to have a chiptune that uses the Atari ST / Falcon and the Amiga 600 / 1200 etc. Might bring some harmony between the two rival camps!
There still _are_ some differences making synchronisation impossible.

Makes you wonder if it's hardware or software when things at the same tempo don't actually play in time. Even taking the human error factor out of the equation, sometimes 120 beats per minute just isn't when you move from machine to machine or sequencer to sequencer.

Re: New AMIGA 1200 song.
Seems like it's a machine feature in relation to C64 and ZX Spectrum (we made once a song on both of them and synchronisation was supposedly kinda torture for a guy.mal7921 wrote:Makes you wonder if it's hardware or software when things at the same tempo don't actually play in time. But as for ST/Amiga I can explain it actually.
ST has only YM/AY. CPU makes all the mixing and playing samples. There is some article about it here on the Forum. I wrote it some time ago.
So - we were also testing drum-loops in both ST sequencers (ST ProTracker and DigiComposer). At leas one of them (both? I don't remember now) had problems and played a bit slower then a regular speed was. because of strong CPU's work.
The same would go for Amiga1200 playin' 8 channels. 2 days ago I finished an A1200 song with loops (taken from Roland TB-303) and when it was playin' 4ch only, then tempo was kept.
When I used more channels - I noticed the loop doesn't play well any more.
So - keepin' tempo sometimes isn't possible for retro-machines.
Even if we love them so much.

Re: New AMIGA 1200 song.
I've just checked out the section you mention and I cannot find anything in my moderator powers to sort this. So hopefully Malcolm can remove the offending entries for us. It took me a bit of work to sort out the forum junk that was put there; grrrr!! have these idiots nothing better to do!
