Holidays

Post by mal7921 »

Well I can tell I'm back on the uk...

We've just had a great family holiday in Spain, staying at lloret de mar, venturing into southern France and Barcelona, just enjoying being away from it all.

As I only had the iPhone and iPad with me, I didn't get up to much, but while in Barcelona I did spot a commodore 16 for sale in the window of Spain's equivalent of cash converters, alongside a Nintendo Wii and an LCD tv. That was as close to retro computing as I got in the week we were there, but I did put the camera to good use, and found the center of the Internet!

All in all good fun, back home and back to it now

:D Hope you had a great time Malcolm. Sadly I have not had anything resembling a week away from it all since 1985, but that is due to buying music and computer gear and not having a passport!

I'm about to attempt the replacement of a chip on my Mega STE motherboard, which I hope will fix the video problem. Simbo gave advice on the same problem I think over at Atari-Forum, which involved snipping one leg of this chip to see if it switched to colour or monochrome mode. Mine shows mono mode properly but not the colour, so the leg snip thing should reverse this and show colour properly but then mono will be the one affected. I can then proceed to solder a new chip in to fix the problem. http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.ph ... 40#p143802. The chip legs seem more spaced apart than some modern ones, so hopefully my soldering skills are up to it. Might be best to buy some desolder braiding first though.

Right 11:33am and I still have not eaten since I got up over an hour ago.
