Help... Problems with Notator 3.21 after changing Harddisc

Post by Schorsch63 »

I hope here is someone who can help me by following problem. I have an Atari Mega STE with an inbuild SCSI-Harddisc. In addition I have an external SCSI-HD. Now my internal Harddisc was going very very loud. The reason is of course the age of that Harddisc. Now I have installed a "new" internal SCSI-Harddisc, partitioned in 4 partitions. My programs and files I copied from the old, loud harddisc to the external HD, and from that to the new internal HD. Now there is following problem. If I start Notator 3.21, after a while it appears two bombs and an error-message "FATAL ERROR! Memory Panic! (3)". It happens just before changing the screen to the "Notator-working-desktop". Of course the STE stops working after clicking at "Abort"-Button. Other Atari-Programs, such as Fastcopy, or Canvas-title-Generator are working without problems. If I reconnect to the old, loud Harddisc Notator works properly. Is there anyone who knows what I can do? In advance thanks a lot for any help

Have you tried disabling everything in your AUTO folder? Perhaps they started up in the correct order on your old hard disk, but when copying them to the new hard disk they were copied in the wrong order.

That is the most likely explanation, try renaming the auto folder and see if Notator now works. It is also possible that the memory may need re-seating, but try the auto folder first, if all works try copying programs back in one at a time until the problem re-occurs. If it doesn't,p then you may well have found an order in which all programs will work :-)
